Efficiency - £ 200 for a whole year of space heating, Effective COP 8-9
Regular heat pumps produce 3-4 times as much heat as it consumes, this is often referred to as Coefficient of Performance or COP.
The EHS Energy Saver has been enhanced in many ways (more details) so that its effective COP is in the region of 8-9.
This has been proven through a long-term test performed starting June 2009 at a property in Oban, Scotland. The property is a semi-detached,
two floor, three bedrom property constructed in the 1980s with the insulation standard of the day.
Test results
- 1,916 kWh consumed during the coldest winter for more than 30 years
- It would have been 1,600 in a normal year
- £ 200 for a whole year of space heating
- £ 0.30 per day
- £ 0.70 per day in January
The property consumed 15,000 kWh per annum for space heating (using storage heaters). The current consumption of 1,600 kWh equates to an
effective COP of 9.4.
User comments:
- Prior to the installation of the unit we could never get the house properly warm using our existing heating system (storage heaters)
- The house is now always lovely and warm, with a nice and clean temperature of 18 º to 21º evenly distributed in the property
- We have not used storage heaters since unit was fitted, and we have not used the coal fire either as there has been no need
- We are very happy with the unit
